As we've all moved into the 21st century, many of us have opted for "alternative" health methods as opposed to the more traditional ones of the 20th century. A procedure known as "colon detox" or "colon cleansing" has become very popular. Although the practice seems like a new idea to us, colon cleansing is an ancient practice that has been used in some cultures for millenniums

The benefits of colon cleansing are both short term and long-term. In the short term, your immediate health will improve, along with long-term preventative care. After a cleansing, you'll feel lighter and healthier due to the cleansing ridding your body of unneeded waste products that impacted on your bowels, which can lead to illness.

Other colon cleanse benefits can be seen over the long term. Taking care of your colon from a young age can help prevent colon cancer and cut down on the number of days that are spent suffering from illness. In the early part of the 20th century, enemas were regularly used to relieve minor illnesses, and a great rate of success was experienced. Is colon cleansing the answer to the over-medicating of America?

Some colon cleanse benefits can be described as emotional benefits. Once your body feels clean and refreshed, you may find that you feel better in general.
